What I always thought when I read the Bible was that Esau thought marrying one of Ishmael's daughters would make his parents happy, since he was a relative, and Esau's other wives were not relatives. I don't really know what the relationship there was. And I don't think we hear much about the Ishmaelites after this.<br /><br />I didn't know that about the legality of a blessing. I get that people would leave everything to one kid so their property wouldn't be divided, but I really think it was mean of Isaac not to have any kind of blessing for his other son. I have a copy of my some-number-great-grandmother's will. She left some of her kids hundreds or even thousands of dollars, and some of her kids only got one dollar. Seriously.
